I am an environmental engineer and Assistant Professor at Swarthmore College and my research focuses on the environmental benefits of using waste as a resource. I measure and model carbon emissions and carbon sequestration from the utilization of waste (municipal solid waste, biomass, agricultural waste). I am particularly interested in composting. Prior to joining the Engineering faculty at Swarthmore College in 2025, I was an Associate Professor at Cal Poly Humboldt, and before that, I was a Postdoctoral Scientist at UC Berkeley, an Environmental Specialist at the World Bank, and a Fulbright Fellow in Colombia. I hold degrees in Environmental Engineering (BS, Cornell University; MS, UC Berkeley), and in Energy and Resources (MS, PhD, UC Berkeley), and live in Pennsylvania with my family.
